RELIGION,
MEDIA AND GENDER
As the research group tackled a range of topics, the relevance
of gender emerged as a common theme. The application of communication
theory to religious traditions and phenomena has highlighted the
essential role played by definitions of gender, responses to gender
identifies, and traditions of gender stereotyping. Consideration
of gender within religious symbol systems requires a critical
approach to the historiography of the study of religion and to
contemporary investigation of religious phenomena.
