Biography
Marie-Therese
Mäder is a scholar of religion, media and philosophy
with particular expertise in the field of media and religion
where she has published several articles and books. In
2011/12 she was assistant and from 2013-16 teaching and
research associate at the Centre for Religion, Economy
and Politics at the University of Zurich (UZH). In between
two research stays in Yale/US (2012, Film Studies program)
and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/US (2015/16,
Comparative Media Department followed. In 2019 she habilitated
at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (LMU)
about religious communities in the media. She teaches
in the Study of Religion at LMU, in the field of Religion
and the Public sphere at the Centre for Religion, Economy
and Politics (UZH), and media ethics at the universities
of applied science Graubünden and Bern (CH). She
is a member of the research group Media and Religion and
of the editorial
boards of JRFM, of the book series Religion, Film
und Medien (Schüren, Marburg), and Media and Religion
(Nomos, Baden-Baden). In 2021 she won a Marie
Sklodowska Curie Fellowship (EU Horizon 2020). She
is the author of numerous essays, book chapters, and books
on film and religion, migration, funeral culture, ethics
and documentary film, religion in reality shows, and audience
research.
